Retour à EV Album > Chris Simcoe's 1990 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6

PropriétaireChris Simcoe
Lieu de conversionKansas City, Missouri US
Véhicule1990 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6
For a 1990 this was in great shape, bought off of craigslist for $400 with no engine, all plastic is great for a 1990 and the frame is straight, hardly any mechanical work necessary.
General Electric Not sure, data plate is worn down Series Wound DC
6.7" dia, 11" long, 57 lbs, 72 volt
bought it for $50, took it apart and cleaned all the rust off of it, works great.
TransmissionChain drive, it's a 530 size chain (ANSI #50). Bought a cheaper generic chain to start off ($18) It's lighter than high performance motorcycle chains but has no O rings, makes it a bit louder.
AXE7245
bought used for $450, 72 volt, 450 amp, programmable via serial to USB cable, it also logs data through that cable to a laptop. It records throttle position, pack voltage, battery current and output current.
Batteries6 Power Sonic PS-12350, 12.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, AGM
These are 35 Ah each, not bad for the size and price, they were $60 each. A little small in physical size, I could have gone up to maybe 55ah and still fit them in the frame.
Tension nominale72 Volts
Chargeur HWC1B Series 72V/8A 110VAC Input
got used for a good price ($180) will regularly balance each battery about every 10 charges of the pack.

Chauffagenone
Green Galaxy from thunderstruck
simple and cheap, 72v - 12v. 10 Amp although it shares a common ground with the battery pack so it is not isolated.
Instrumentationstock for now, speedo will work still as it's from a cable down to the front tire.
Vitesse maximale55 MPH (88 KPH)
This is with a 10 tooth front and 45 tooth rear sprocket.
Accélérationpretty quick but not like a regular sportbike, the Alltrax controllers are nice because they give you about 4 throttle curves to choose from.
Autonomie15 Miles (24 Kilometers)
15 is riding conservatively like an EV.
10-12 if you ride like a hooligan.
Nombre de places1 only, I cut away some subframe to get rid of passenger pegs and some weight.
Poids total0
need to weight it, shouldn't be more than original bike.
Pneusstock
Durée de la conversionabout 100 hours so far
Coût de la conversionabout $1800 so far
Autresfuture mods will be a some kind of battery tracker system and LED lights. Need to paint the bike as well and buy a few new parts from ebay, small trim pieces that were missing, nothing major.
