| Batteries | 18 Trojan 170Ah's with automotive posts, 8.00 Volt, Lead-Acid, Flooded Decided I'll never get to build it waiting to save for lifepo4, so going with Pb for first pack. As most of the cells will be inside the passenger compartment of the car, I'm going to treat the batteries with Thermoil and use Watermiser2000 vent caps. This combination should all but eliminate any acid misting when charging and minimise watering, hopefully extend useable life too. |

| Instrumentation | Standard ICE Rev counter to be coupled up to the motor. Battery voltage, 12v system voltage, battery & motor current via meters (using a switch to toggle between pack current and motor current via secondary shunt). Moteur and controller temperature via meters.
All instruments are digital LCD backlit. Additional Warning lights will show: Amber-drive system active warning, Red-precharge, Red-motor overtemp. warning. Also a nice display of 18, 10 led bargraph battery monitors as per James May's design in the centre console:) |
